Spinal Cord Stimulator Trials
If our team of experienced medical professionals concludes that spinal cord stimulation could potentially alleviate your pain, we will begin with an initial trial before making any final decisions pertaining to surgical implantation. During this trial period, a spinal cord stimulator device will be implanted near the spinal canal, and an external transmitter will send electrical pulses to contacts surrounding the spinal cord. Most trial periods last between 5 and 7 days. If, after this time period, it is determined that spinal cord stimulation is an appropriate and effective treatment, surgical implantation will be considered. During the trial period, patients will be asked to document any noticeable decrease in pain levels. If pain levels decrease drastically, the trial will be considered successful.
